"The Yellowstone river is a magnificent fly fishing experience..." --Brendan Williams

Montana Fly Fishing - Sunset on the Yellowstone River

The Yellowstone River- our home water

The variety of unique characteristics of this incredible Blue Ribbon water will entice all to experience it's rewards. For even the beginner fly fisher this river provides a welcome invitation due to it's ease of access and wade fishing along with abundant insect hatches and low fishing pressure.

With out special permits on the Gallatin National Forest we're able offer Montana fly fishing trips on sections of the Yellowstone River with limited commercial access.  We live along these famed upper stretches of the Yellowstone River which gives us first-hand knowledge of river conditions and weather while not wasting time driving around to different locations. Nearly five miles of the Yellowstone flows directly through Dome Mountain Ranch making these waters even more appealing to those seeking solitude and incredible fishing opportunities.

MONTANA YELLOWSTONE FLY FISHING LODGE AND CABINS

Our historic "Point of Rocks" lodge and riverside cabins are located within easy walking distance of the upper stretches of the famed Blue-Ribbon Yellowstone River.  We offer an all-inclusive package which includes fully guided fishing, lodging in our cabins and access to endless miles of pristine trout waters.

While wetting a line on these hallowed waters it is not uncommon to find oneself faced with a conundrum of splendor. Imagine yourself sharing the fishing with only Eagles and Ospreys, the shorelines with Elk, Deer, Anterlope and other Montana wildlife. Many fly fishers seek the colorful native Cut Throat not only for their pure beauty but also for it's aggressive top water feeding habits. In addition, healthy populations of silver-chromed wild rainbows and predatory big brown trout will help to round out any day.

Regardless of your style of fishing, there is a fish in this river for you. The guide staff at Dome Mountain Ranch live right on this river's banks. Long drives and crowded waters will not be a part of your day. Instead, you will likely be on the water before finishing your last cup of coffee and often watch many an unforgettable sunset in a storm like Caddis hatch which can turn glassy tailing pools into boiling troughs of adventure.

YELLOWSTONE RIVER CURRENT FISHING CONDITIONS 3/23/2010: The Yellowstone continues to run low and clear with most fish culminating in deeper run and slower water.  Mild weather has allowed some great floats and walk and wade fishing.  Stripping heavy streamers and nymphing will continue to attract heavy fish.  Mid day BWO's have brought some sipping fish to the surface in back eddies and foam pools.

June fishing in the park in a full-out snowstorm on your first trout trip is a memory that will never fade. The kids saw snow for the first time! They did not expect that on their summer vacation!
